Why is soifon's Bankai so different from her shikai is it because it does not have suzumebachi in its name?

There is no evidence to support this. Soifon's Bankai's name contains the kanji for Suzumebachi, but with a different pronunciation. Suzumebachi (雀蜂) means "Hornet" and Jakuhō Raikōben (雀蜂雷公鞭) means "Hornet Thunder Whip". As for why the forms of the Shikai and Bankai are so different - only Tite Kubo knows why he designed it that way.

Technically, Soifon's bankai is an upgrade of her shikai. Her shikai is two hit kill, her bankai is one hit kill. Therefore, it can be argued that her shikai and bankai are not very different.
